Dr. Eric Proffitt
Dr. Eric Proffitt is a licensed psychologist specializing in therapy for children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. He earned both his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from Azusa Pacific University and completed his clinical internship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute & Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He completed post-doctoral fellowship training at the Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center & Harvard Medical School and at CHOC Children’s Hospital of Orange County. He has extensive training and experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults with acute and chronic medical conditions. In addition to expertise with medically ill patients, Dr. Proffitt has training and experience working across a variety of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, and problems adjusting to life challenges and is a Certified Grief Counselor through the American Academy of Grief Counseling. He also has unique clinical and research interests in working with patients and families navigating the psychosocial challenges associated with pediatric cancer treatment, survivorship, and end of life issues. Dr. Proffitt values a collaborative therapeutic relationship to help children, adolescents, young adults, and families navigate their unique challenges. He aims to create a safe and supportive space for clients to feel heard and understood, identify their goals, develop skills to cope with life’s stressors, and feel empowered to live meaningfully.
