What to expect when you connect with us:

Making the decision to come to therapy is hard enough— the process of getting connected to a therapist should be easy. At Compass, we are committed to responding to you quickly, answering your questions thoroughly, and connecting you to a clinician who is ready to help.

When you call or email Compass, you can expect a member of our administrative team to get back to you within one day. They will ask you about what brings you to therapy, inquire about your preferences and needs, and tell you more about our practice. Your information is then shared with an expert psychologist on our team, who personally matches each client to a provider who specializes in evidence-based practice that aligns with your needs, preferences, and availability. The provider we match you with will then contact you for a free 15 minute phone consultation, to make sure that you have found the right fit before scheduling your first appointment. Or, if we know of a service that would better fit your needs outside of our practice, we are happy to provide a referral.

Though what to expect next depends a bit on the particular services you are seeking, therapy generally starts with a comprehensive intake. Your therapist will get to know you— not only the problems that bring you to therapy today, but the context of stressors and resources you’re living with, the history that brought you to this point, and the strengths that have allowed you to cope so far. Then you and your therapist will have a collaborative treatment planning conversation in which you decide together what therapy will look like and how your therapist expects to help you reach your goals.

From the very first call to the day that you’re ready to end treatment, we believe that high quality care happens in the context of high-quality relationships. We look forward to listening carefully to what you need and sharing clearly what we recommend, so that you are empowered to choose the best treatment for your individual needs, equipped with the knowledge that we offer treatments that work, provided by expert scientist-clinicians.
